Elephants and the river were the dominant themes of our painting session in the Wayi Wayi Gallery the day before. And today, too, there are strong impressions of nature.

Everyone slept well, even though Kamunjila Lodge offers less comfort in the rooms than the accommodation in Zimbabwe. On the other hand, there is a rich and healthy breakfast in organic quality.

We set out for safari again, but this time it’s safari by foot. Walking safaris are not offered everywhere. And there are clear safety precautions and rules that we have to follow to ensure that our visit to the white rhinos is a success.

My heart beats faster when, after a 20-minute walk, we can actually see them in the distance. Our two guides – one of them equipped with a rifle – puts his finger to his mouth and tells us to follow him quietly. We do our best and get a good bit closer. To be able to experience these white rhinos in the bush outside a jeep!

Later, we sit at the banks of the Zambezi river, on the terrace of the Radisson Blue Hotel. The first farewell mood sets in.
