After a wonderful evening with a live band, it’s time for the others to leave. For me it’s a day off.

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka is easy to navigate. But still I would like my travellers to arrive there two hours before departure. Bagley, my trusted taxi driver, doesn’t have time for us today, so I book an Ulendo. Ulendo is like Uber, so you order via an app. It’s convenient and simple, especially because there are no discussions about the fare. The app calculates and decides.

And finally the moment is there: After 19 days in the middle of a tour group, I am a one-woman show. It feels so unfamiliar at first, but I’m also looking forward to doing nothing for once … or almost nothing.

A big reunion with Teddy, my host Noria’s gardener. I have been looking forward to going for a walk with him again. He’s a nice and reliable companion. I can also get around with him in the nearby “compound”, a densely populated neighborhood of not so well-off people.

And then I’ll make my plan for the next few days. Because my original idea of traveling to Lake Tanganyika in the North of Zambia is blocked due to time constraints.
